Introduction:
The healthcare industry in São Paulo, Brazil, has been rapidly adopting assistive technology (AT) to improve patient care and enhance accessibility. This study aims to explore the impact of assistive technology on the healthcare sector in São Paulo by analyzing data from a recent survey conducted.
Methodology:
The research was conducted using a cross-sectional survey methodology, which involved collecting data from healthcare providers, patients, and their caregivers about their experiences with AT in the healthcare setting. The survey was administered via online questionnaire and included questions related to the use of assistive technologies, satisfaction levels, and barriers to accessing AT services.
Results:
The results indicate that there is a growing demand for assistive technology in the healthcare sector of São Paulo. According to the survey results, more than half of respondents (56%) reported having used AT at some point during their healthcare journey. Additionally, 74% of those surveyed reported that they had encountered challenges when trying to access AT services, such as technical difficulties or limited availability.
Moreover, the survey also revealed that patients who have used AT in the healthcare setting report higher levels of satisfaction with their experience compared to those who have not. Specifically, 81% of those surveyed rated their overall satisfaction level with AT as high or very high compared to 72% among those who did not use AT.
